EnglishRebecca Trefgarne joined Wetherby Prep School in September 2008 as Head of English. She was previously Head of English at Thomas’s, Clapham, a co-educational prep school, for four years and worked in the English department at The Hall, Hampstead prior to that. She has a Psychology degree from UWE and completed her PGCE in Secondary English at Bristol University

The aims of English teaching at Wetherby Prep are as follows:

  • To approach texts with an enquiring mind
  • To be able to analyze the purpose, layout and language of texts of all genres
  • To enable pupils to express their ideas in an accurate, creative and structured way
  • To be able to talk with confidence and clarity
  • To be able to listen and respond to others with courtesy.

Achieving these objectives will ensure success in Senior School entry and will provide a solid platform for study both at GCSE and A’level.
