Learning Enrichment & Support
Our main objective at Wetherby Prep is to enable each pupil to maximise his potential. We have earned a good reputation for supporting pupils with Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia and attention difficulties. All new pupils are assessed on entry and those requiring support are identified and appropriate support structures are set up. Pupils may be withdrawn from class for one to one or small group work with specialist support teachers. For these pupils, an Individual Education Plan (IEP) is drawn up each term with realistic and measurable targets set. These IEPs are reviewed and rewritten termly.
Our relatively small class sizes mean that the pupil:teacher ratio allows teachers to actively differentiate and support those pupils needing consolidation. In addition, wherever possible, support staff work in the classroom alongside the teacher to support pupils identified as needing support within the lessons.
We work very closely with parents and encourage them to collaborate with us in their sons’ education. The school has well established links with educational psychologists, speech therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and other such professionals whom we consult as and when it is required.

Head of Learning Support
