From September 2027, Wetherby Prep will welcome both boys and girls, strengthening progression and expanding opportunity across our 2–18 schools becoming Wetherby Pembridge Preparatory School.
Wetherby Prep is entering a new chapter, introducing co-education as part of our commitment to providing an exceptional education for every child.
From the earliest years, boys and girls will learn together in an inclusive environment that encourages confidence, collaboration, and adaptability. This approach ensures pupils are not only academically prepared but also socially equipped to thrive in an interconnected world.
For families who prefer a single-sex pathway, Wetherby School Notting Hill and Wetherby Senior School (boys) or Pembridge Hall (girls) remain established options, maintaining flexibility across the wider Wetherby group.
Nursery
Begin at Wetherby Pembridge Minors (Ages 2-4), for a personalised, nurturing and aspirational start to school life.
Pre-Prep to Prep (Ages 4-13)
Move on to Wetherby School (Kensington, Notting Hill or Marylebone), where early foundations are established, and academic depth is built to prepare for senior school entry.
Senior (Ages 11–18)
At 11+ or 13+, pupils move into senior education, with two distinct pathways:
Wetherby Senior School – a traditional boys’ senior education
Wetherby Pembridge Senior School – a co-educational, forward-looking senior school experience
This pathway builds on the long-standing strength of Wetherby School, creating a clear and connected route from early years through to senior education. As part of Inspired Education, pupils benefit from both a strong academic foundation and a broader, global perspective.
Pupils at Wetherby Prep are challenged to think critically, communicate clearly, and take ownership of their learning. Co-education adds a new dimension. Different perspectives strengthen discussion, sharpen reasoning, and encourage confident participation. Why is the school becoming co-educational?
Wetherby Pembridge Preparatory School will welcome boys and girls to broaden access and choice, while developing collaboration, adaptability, and confidence from the earliest years, without changing the standards families trust.
When will co-education begin?
From September 2027, it will be introduced through a phased and carefully planned approach.
Will single-sex pathways remain?
Yes. We recognise the importance of choice for families, established single-sex options will remain, alongside the co-educational pathway. Wetherby School Notting Hill for boys - with an all-boy pathway to Wetherby Senior School and Pembridge Hall School for girls.
How will this affect current pupils?
There will be no change to teaching, pastoral care, or curriculum. The transition will be managed to ensure continuity and balance.
What support is in place during the transition?
Clear structure, strong pastoral care, and carefully managed cohorts will ensure every child feels supported.
