Today we were excited to share an important strategic update regarding the future direction of Wetherby Prep Marylebone.

After careful consideration, and from a position of real strength, we see a compelling opportunity for the future. From September 2027, the school will begin a phased transition to co-education, becoming Wetherby Pembridge Prep. This forms part of the ongoing development of the Wetherby Pembridge 2-18 educational pathway, following the successful opening of Wetherby Pembridge Senior School in 2025.

This change offers families continuity, choice, and a single standard of academic excellence from early years through to senior school. It builds on our school’s proud heritage while ensuring it continues to evolve to meet the needs of future generations. The world our pupils enter, at university and in professional life, is co-educational, and it is right that a school whose purpose is preparation reflects that reality.

Wetherby has always been known for academic ambition, strong pastoral care, and a distinctive London character. Our values remain the same, and our move to co-education allows us to bring this approach to more families, particularly those in our community who wish the same for their daughters. Importantly, this transition is underpinned by the heritage and expertise of Pembridge Hall School, London’s leading girls’ prep school whose longstanding excellence strengthens and informs this next chapter for our community.

Since the Prep opened in 2008, boys have progressed to leading senior schools in the UK and internationally. This success is rooted in a culture that fosters intellectual curiosity while promoting engagement, courtesy and independence. Strong, long-standing relationships with top senior schools in London and beyond continue to support families as they consider future options. Alongside this, the school also offers a clear co-educational pathway to Wetherby Pembridge Senior School - an increasingly popular option for families seeking continuity, with its strong academic focus and modern outlook.

This evolution is not a departure from what has made our school successful; it is an extension of its strengths. We remain committed to challenging pupils academically, socially, and personally within a culture that values effort and integrity. Academic standards, a rigorous curriculum, and high expectations across academics, sport, and the creative and performing arts will remain unchanged.

At the same time, we recognise the importance of choice for families, and an all-boys pathway will continue to be available through Wetherby Pre-Prep Notting Hill and onwards to Wetherby Senior School. Wetherby School Notting Hill has a long-standing, exceptional track record of academic excellence, consistently preparing pupils to secure places at the UK’s most competitive senior schools. This strong foundation is reflected in the outstanding results achieved by Wetherby Senior School, where students continue to excel and progress to top universities.
